Job Summary:

We are seeking an Environmental Specialist II to ensure compliance with environmental regulations, conduct environmental assessments and audits, analyze environmental data, prepare technical reports and coordinate with regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders. Operating under moderate supervision, the Environmental Specialist II may also mentor junior staff and contribute to the development of environmental policies and procedures.

This is a unique opportunity for an environmental professional eager to broaden their experience in a dynamic setting. The role offers exposure to a diverse mix of projects, from coastal sites and government agencies to private-sector developments, making it ideal for someone looking to make a tangible impact across a wide range of environments.

This person will work in our St. Croix, Virgin Islands office, but supports projects throughout the US Virgin Islands and United States.


Relocation and Work Authorization:
Relocation assistance is available for qualifying candidates already residing in the United States. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for current or future sponsorship.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
  • Conduct environmental assessments and site evaluations (e.g., Phase I & II Environmental Site Assessments, Environmental Impact Assessments).
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret environmental data from samples (air, water, soil, etc.).
  • Assist with environmental permitting, including air, water, waste, and land use permits.
  • Prepare technical reports and documentation for regulatory agencies (e.g., DPNR, EPA etc.)
  • Collaborate with internal departments, government agencies, and the public on environmental matters
  • Liaise with cross-functional teams, government agencies, and stakeholders
  • Support sustainability programs aimed at reducing water usage, waste generation etc.
  • Monitor and manage project performance and proactively manage risks, issues, and changes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in environmental science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • 2-5 years of experience in an environmental or related role, including practical knowledge of environmental monitoring and regulations.
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations.
  • Experience with environmental site assessments, audits, and environmental compliance management.
  • Familiarity with environmental software and data analysis tools (e.g., GIS, environmental modeling software).
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Commitment to environmental stewardship and public health.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • $70-$90K: Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant.
