Job Description POSITION: Manager, Prospect Research
DEPARTMENT: Resource Development
REPORTS TO: AVP, Development
PAY GRADE: 6
SALARY RANGE: $70,000 to $75,000
PRIMARY PURPOSE The Manager of Prospect Research is a detail-oriented, process-driven individual with mastery of prospect research tools and techniques. This role manages United Way’s prospect research program, including creating senior leadership briefings, managing fundraiser portfolios, and using research and wealth screening results to grow and sustain the donor pipeline, while maintaining data standards within the database.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES Utilize licensed and public resources to research and analyze donors and prospects, adhering to APRA’s ethics standards.
Develop and maintain prospect research procedures and best practices.
Document findings in data tables, donor profiles, and database records; provide information to the Resource Development team promptly.
Support portfolio reviews, pipeline analysis, and relationship mapping with timely research updates.
Create and maintain data mining operations to query donor data and monitor database quality, following data entry protocols.
Monitor activity and revenue reports, and pledge alerts.
Stay informed on news and materials related to donors and prospects; update information and identify new prospects proactively.
Assist in establishing prospect/donor linkage, ability, and interest scores.
Collaborate with vendors to analyze wealth screening data, updating constituent coding as needed.
Achieve or exceed research performance metrics with a client-focused approach.
Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree required.
Knowledge of CRM database best practices.
Understanding of fundraising principles and practices.
Strong research, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail; capable of managing multiple projects.
Discreet with confidential information.
Collaborative, self-motivated, innovative, and resourceful.
