Summary Please note: This is not a Norwescap position. Norwescap is the sponsoring agency for people looking to become registered home childcare providers. Counties served include: Hunterdon, Sussex, and Warren.
A family childcare provider creates a caring and safe environment for the children in their care. They provide overall care and quality education in a home setting and follow the health and safety guidelines set forth in the Family Child Care Manual of Requirements. S/he must be able to communicate, listen, and work well with children and parents daily. Providers implement a quality educational program and develop positive relationships with children and their parents. They observe and document children's interest and progress, and relay that information back to parents and families. Family childcare providers are responsible for implementing developmentally appropriate activities based on children's interests and needs. Providers are self-employed (1099), set their own hours to accommodate community needs, and set their own rates of pay. The CCR&R provides guidance through the registration process and offers ongoing professional development opportunities.
Duties - Implement curricula activities and encourage participation by children.
- Actively engage in activities; manage cleanliness, order, and availability of program materials.
- Maintain frequent communications with parents.
- Encourage self-help and good hygiene through behavior modeling.
- Help ensure smooth, daily transition from home to program.
- Follow all program policies and state regulations outlined in the Family Childcare Manual of Requirements.
- Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.
Requirements - High energy.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
- Must clear full background check, including fingerprinting and CARI.
- Must pass health screening and TB test.
- Must complete mandated training (health/safety, child development, and mandated reporter) BEFORE becoming registered.
- Must complete family childcare orientation (2 hours), provided by CCR&R
